Other Body Joints in Motion
Here are videos of other various joints and the motion captured by Future Digital
Motion X-Ray.
Cervical
There is a retrolisthesis of C3 on C4 and C5 on C6 indicating damage to the
anterior longitudinal ligament. There is an anterolisthesis of C4 on C5 (damage to
the posterior longitudinal ligament), and increased separation between the spinous
process at C4-C5 (damage to the interspinous ligament), " avulsion" fracture originating
from the anterior/inferior endplate of C4 floating up and down. There is an anterior
wedge deformity of the C5 vertebral body indicating a compression fracture and a
compression fracture at the vertebral body of C6.
Wrist
DMX has made diagnosis of wrist instability easy. In this example you see the proximal
row of the carpal bones dislocate during wrist flexion and extension.
TMJ

Motion in the A-P open and closed mouth projection is demonstrated by a sigmoidial
deviation of the jaw and the lateral 20 degree tilt view demonstrates asymmetry of
the condyles which indicates an internal derangement of the temporal mandibular joint.
Also noted is an audible popping of the condyle.
Shoulder
There is humeral head dislocation from the glenoid fossa during shoulder
abduction.
Elbow

There is an avulsion fracture (joint mouse) demonstrated in the elbow joints during
flexion and extension. Digital Motion X-Ray allows us to view the elbow joint in
360 degrees of motion with the ability to control the penetrating power to detect
avulsion fractures that are commonly missed by traditional diagnostic methods.
Lumbar
Ligamentous injuries can be demonstrated with DMX in the lumbar spine by viewing
abnormal coupled motion and increased disc angulations when laterally bending to
the right and left. Fixations can also be identified quickly by viewing loss of motion.
Dysphasia
A modified barium swallow is being performed on a patient suffering from
dysphasia (difficulty in swallowing).Picture in Picture (PIP) technology allows external
viewing of patient during study. Verbal communication is recorded between speech
pathologist and patient through an external amplified auditory microphone.
Implants
During flexion and extension the stability and integrity of the implant is
evaluated and demonstrates a properly functioning implant.
